Just a thought Kimberley, have you any idea where your father was born and how old he was when he died? If you could get his birth certificate then that would give you some information about his father and mother and where they were living. If you have already done this please forgive my intrusion. James and Edward are quite common Christian names in the area my Knapper ancestors came from that is the Potteries in Staffordshire.I was in contact until relatively recently with an Edward Knapper there whose great great grandfather was the elder brother to my great great grandfather. Sorry to say Edward died a little while ago. Very sad because we had forged a close relationship. Finally I know that I have said this before on this web site a family story handed down suggests that my Knapper family came from the Continent to help Oliver Cromwell fight his Civil War. I haven't found a shred of truth for this yet but am still looking!!
