Peter's headstone reads: BORN AT STEINBACH, PROVINZ FULDA, GERMANY, JULY 29,1810. DIED AUG. 16, 1882. AGED 72 YRS 18 DS.

During my research for the Jackson Co., MI Pioneer Project I found in the "History of Jackson County" a bio on Peter stating that he "was born in Province Hesse-Cassel, Germany, July 29, 1810, son of John L and Margaret (Scheig) Knauf..."

It's possible that they are the same place since boundaries move during wars and such. The towns of Fulda and Kassel are less than 60 miles apart.

Jack will respond to you. He lives in OH but summers in WI.

If you seek more information please contact me directly.
