Knaufs from Trier to Illinois and Caspar in Trier

My mom told me recently that her great-grandmother was Barbara Caspar of St. Matthias, Germany (near Trier) and that Barbara's sister married a man named Knauf and they moved to Illinois.

The time frame sounds about right.

Barbara remained in Germany and married Jakob Amlinger, a cigar shop owner in Trier. They had a daugter named Klara who had a son (out of wedlock) named Heinrich. Heinrich had four children; one of which is my mother.

I guess that makes us some kind of very distant cousins.
