Lisa and Ken.I have been researching the line of John Michael Knauf, born in Ramholtz, Hesse-Darstadt, Germany, 21 Aug 1791.
Michael married a Elizabeth Loos of the same area, and they emigrated to the US in 1831, when their youngest son, Henry, was 1 year of age. They settled in the wilderness, in the area that is now 3 miles East of Trade City, where they lived for the rest of there lives. They had two more sons, Michael and Hartman. It appears that this Hartman is the oldest Knauf male buried in Round Top, along with his wife and chilldren. The Henry of the family fought in the Civil war, then moved to Minnesota, where he homesteaded, farmed, and died. The Michael moved to Wisconsin, where his trail is lost.
Ken, I live over 3,000 miles from Round Top, and have never been able to "walk" that cemetery. If you are able to "walk" it this week end, could you check to see if there are any other Knauf's burried there, that are not included in the on-line listing for Round Top?If you find a Michael Knauf, b. 1791, and an Elizabeth,b. 1799, his wife, would be more then willing to pay for photo's.I wouuld appreciate it greatly. If any one else is researching this line, would like to correspond and share with them.
