There are a number of Michael/Johann Michal Knauf/Knauff's from the Ramholtz area of Germany. The only way to know for sure which one you are following is to research the birth and marriage records of Ramholtz and Schluechtern. It is my guess, and only a guess, that the 1806 Michael Knauf is not the same as the 1791 Johann Michael Knauf. Harman was a common name as well. I believe that there were two Johann Michael Knauf's in the area at the time of our Johann Michael Knauf of 1791. Dick
