Terry - I have been working on locating the ancesters of my GG-Father George Knauf. Family info traces him to his arrival at the Port of Baltimore in 1833. George was born Jan 28, 1815 in Vollmerz, Prussia, Germany and eventually ended up in Michigan. His first wife Elizabeth died after Regina b1849 and George Jr b1853 were born. He then married Genovefa Ritz and had six more children. They lived in the town of Wright, Ottawa County, Mi. George died in 1876. You indicate John Kanouff/Knuuf arrived in the same port at the same time. In the port of Baltimore index for 1833, Martin Knauf is listed as "wife and two children" and lists the names Johanna, Johann and Hanna. The next name in the list is George Knauf but is indicated as Primary immigrant, so I'm not sure if Martin is his father or not. A reference is added by George's name to "see Knuuf" and further down the list are Johann and Barbara Knuuf, which I think is your reference. Do you know of any connection?
