No, I don't think there is a connection. This is the first time I have heard of Knecht being Anglicized to Kent. I was aware that the surname Knight was taken by some Knechts, but never heard of Kent before. Thanks for that information. My Knechts were from the Black Forest area of Germany. Happy Hunting!
