Hi Deborah,
you may be able to find some info on Knecht family of louisiana by doing a search on geneanet.org. They have a family line that immigrated to new orleans on that site.
I am currently trying to trace the line of Franz Knecht (b. 1810), also of new orleans, who i believe was Vincent Knecht's nephew.
if you happen to know anything about franz, please let me know.
