If you have not found the information you were looking for I can fill you in on the family starting with Jacob Knecht b.1820 and his wife Mary Josephine b.1820 (or Josephine Mary, Mary J.)who arrived in the Port of New Orleans 30 OCT 1845 aboard the Viola and made their way to Cincinnati, Ohio. They had at least three children, Jacob b.1849, Frederick b. 1851, and Andrew (Andy)b. 12 APR 1853 and d.25 JUN 1879. His niece Mary Edna Knecht always said the name was changed to Knight by some because the Irish could not pronounce Knecht. Andrew is listed on the monument at the Custer Battlefield National Monument. He was a butcher and since the native Americans found a butcher to be a bad man because of what he did to the animals he died one of most painful deaths. According to accounts he was basically butchered. I think I have given you some information to go on and complete your research.
