Dear Ronda....I was so glad to hear from another Kneifl! I got out my bulging Kneifl notebook to attempt to place you in the family, but it is a big relationship, and so I am going right to this posting to start our correspondence. I, too, would love to share information. I am researching all of the lines descending from Jacob and Theresa Kneifl. I have been in continued correspondence with a number of Kneifls, especially Ann Guenther, granddaughter of Gregory Kneifl. She has written a really excellent history of the Gregory Kneifl family, and I am getting there with the Matthew Kneifl family. You probably know Ann. My father was born on the Philip Kneifl homestead, (son of Matthew Kneifl). Do you belong to the Martin Kneifl line or the Philip Kneifl line? I, too, have a lot of information, but one line that I do not have much on is the J.T. Kneifl line. That was a big family, I know, and I have not been able to fill in many of the family sheets on them. Actually, I need information on the Heidi's, the Ferber's, the Engels, and on the Michael Kneifl (Philip's oldest son) burial place. Oh, I have lots of mysteries I'd like to clear up. I have the available information a lot of these people, but I am one of those people who must have every little space filled in. Let's see what each of us has and begin to fill those spaces in. My sisters and I are busy getting pictures copied so that our family members can share the pictures that came to my dad as the oldest in his family. Maybe you have access to some pictures as well, and we could share those, too. I would dearly love a picture of Jacob and Theresa. I remember visiting Annie Marron when I was in college, and she had some old portraits hanging on her walls. She said that people would ask her why she had such old pictures up, and she said, "Why not? They are pictures of my parents and family!" How I would love to see those pictures now. Well, enough for now. Please write back, and let me know which Kneifl you are, and how we can help eaach other out.
Judy Kneifl (daughter of Roy Kneifl, granddaughter of Matt Kneifl, great-granddaughter of Philip Kneifl, great-great-granddaughter of Jacob Kneifl.) By the way, the latest info I have come across is that the Kneifls are listed as Czech immigrants in a book by that title. The dates for the family's immigration throws a wrench into the accepted family story, and Ann Guenther and I have been trying to bring the two accounts together ever since.
