I wish I knew. I have been unable to determine even his parentage. Cedar County Missouri, 1850 census index is as far as I go! Other Brown leads there do not confirm either way! Some family 'lore' has connection to 'John Brown' of Harpers Ferry, but that only makes a good story! The name Knighton, and its variations, suggests that 'perhaps' his mother could have been a Knighton, according to naming conventions. Knowing more about 'your'Lovel Knighton' could be helpful. Thank you for your reply.
