Hi Jonelle,
Do you think your Knightons were related to Miles Oliver Knighton & Allen Knighton that were living in Cross Anchor, SC in 1880?
I know you know more about Spartanburg County, SC than I do.
Your Thom Knighton was probably the son of Thomas Knighton who was the first Knighton to show up in Spartanburg Co, SC on the 1830 Census.
I always assumed my Green L. Knighton was a son of Thomas Knighton, too, until I discovered that Green's wife was going by the name; POLLY NIGHT on the Friendship Baptist Church Record Book. Now, I'm totally confused whether my Green L. Knighton was a NIGHT/KNIGHT/ or Nighton/Knighton.
I know that Miles Oliver Knighton must be related to my line because he named a son; Green L. Knighton b:1877.
Anything you can find on the various Knightons that were living in Spartanburg, SC would really be a big help, Jonelle.
Did you ever find that "older" Thomas Knighton's Will? We sure need that- then hopefully, it would name his children & wife's name. Zachariah Knighton is probably one of his sons. They were the only 2 Knightons on the 1840 Spartanburg Co, SC Census as I recollect.
Any ideas you can come up with would be great, Jonelle.
