Raymond Knighton Camp Hancock

I am not a Knighton, however, my husband's great grandfather was Earl G. Harman. He was killed in a robbery in 1917 in Georgia, and was with a friend from Camp Hancock, Raymond F. Knighton. Knighton was killed some time later in action. I was wondering if anyone had any information on Knighton and or the robbery. I have several newspaper articles on the shooting, but there are conflicting stories as to whether they were the robbers, or the victims. Either way, my huband's great grandfather was a victim and we're just wondering if there's any info out there. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Holly Young
