Hello Jeff,

It has been a couple of years since I was active in this line of my genealogy. Back then I had posted a question about a Charity Elizabeth Knipe of Williams Co., OH. Hopefully, during the last couple of years, you may have come across some information about her. According to my grandfather, Woodrow Hezekiah Smith, his grandfather was Lewis Henry Smith, son of George Washington Smith and Sarah or Sally Posh. Lewis had married Charity in Williams Co., OH (supposedly they lived in the Stryker area, but I am not sure where Springfield Township is). He thought that Charity's father's name was Austin Knipe. The Miller Co., AR census shows that she was born July 1840 in OH and her parents were both born in PA.

Anyway, this time around I have noticed that we appear to have another connection. Lewis Henry Smith's sister was Catherine Smith, born 1835 in Williams Co., OH. Their parents were, as noted above, George Washington Smith and Sarah Posh, formerly of VA. Circumstantial evidence leads towards Catherine Smith and Catharine Rebecca Smith (who married Frederick Austin Knipe) being the same person. Also, this "Austin" may be the one that my grandfather thought was the father of Charity, but he may have misremembered.

Anyway, please find below a chart which shows the information that I know. If you have any insight on either of these connections, please feel free to e-mail me at scfksf@academicplanet.com.

Thanks,

Stephen
