She married JOHN EDMUND WHITING. 4. JOHN D. J. KNIPE was born about 1842 in Canada (Source: Interview and Records of Grace. (KNIPE) Crossett in 1960.), and died about June 03, 1862 in Richmond, VA (Source: US Military Records, Based on the records of the Battle of Seven Pines, and the Confederate's notification to the Union Army that John had died in Richmond after being captured, and that he was reported wounded by his unit, we can presume that John was wounded during the initial attach by the Confederate Soldiers of the 12th Mississippi Infantry, and that he was left injured on the battlefield as the Confederates moved through the Union positions. John spent the night suffering, laying where he was wounded. He was found and treated on June 1st or 2nd and transported to Richmond. He died of his wounds at the Belle Isle Prison Camp, or one of the downtown warehouses, and was buried at Belle Isle or in the pauper's area at Oakwood Cemetery. After the war, the U.S. Government re-interned some 5,702 unknown soldiers from the various Richmond locations to the Richmond National Cemetery). Known by another name: William D. J. 5. ELIZA J. KNIPE, b. October 20, 1844, Canada (Source: 1850 Census, Louisville, St. Lawrence Co., NY, M432, #591, Pg 243, Line 15, and Records of Grace. (KNIPE) Crossett in 1960.). Known by another name: Elizabeth Knipe (Source: 1850 Census, Louisville, St. Lawrence Co., NY.). She died on December 29, 1921 in Eau Claire, Eau Claire Co., WI. She married SILAS W. AUSTIN. He was born July 16, 1843 in NY, died January 12, 1912 in Bridge Creek, Eau Claire Co., WI, and is buried with his wife in East Side Cemetery, Augusta, Eau Claire Co., WI (Source: Cemetery Records, Eau Claire County Cemeteries, Vol. II, City of Augusta & Bridge Creek, by Jim & Kathie Heath).
