Tried to respond to you on the St. Helena board but could not get it to register. The record at the India Office is that John Knipe married Anna Legg - 19 May 1810 at Jamestown. John was the son of William Knipe and Elizabeth Bagley - he was born 21 June 1789. I can give you Knipes back to Jonathan (1668-1695). Some think the name was German - however he arrived St. Helena on 3 January 1684 and all the settlers on board the 'Charles II' were Huguenot refugees. Contact me off-line.
