For a very long time I have been looking for my Great Great Grandparentís Irish connection. I almost chocked when I read your message, but than I reread the message and date and was disappointed. The similarities in names and locations are note worthy, but the dates are a hundred years off, and we have suspected that our Knipes came from the Northern Ireland. My Great Great Grandparents William John and Eliza (Taylor) KNIPE immigrated to the USA/New York sometime between his birth in Ireland 1812 and the birth of his first child in New York in 1835. William Knipe and family moved to Canada between 1837 and 1844. They were back in the New York, St. Lawrence County for the birth of my Great Grandfather Samuel Knipe in 1845. Samuel and his brother Robert moved to Seattle, WA about 1880. George and Joseph Knipe moved to Eastern Washington around 1910. John died in the Civil War, and his parents William and Eliza Knipe are buried in Augusta, Eau Claire Co., WI. William and Eliza Knipe had 12 children:

Morriah (?) M. (b. Apr. 01, 1835, NY)
Sarah A., (b. Oct. 15, 1837, Canada)
Ester (b. Jul. 08, 1839, Canada) m. John Edmund
John William (b. Abt 1842, Canada) M. (?), son named Stanley
Eliza J., (b. Oct. 20, 1844, Canada)
Samuel T., (b. Jun. 23, 1845, NY), m. Laura Richard
Robert (b. Nov. 15, 1848, NY), m. Amelia E. Marsh
Joseph A. (b. Dec. 20, 1851, NY)
George Solom (b. Feb 8 1856, Messina, NY), m. Ida Emily Segur
Henry T. (b. Apr. 19, 1856, NY), m. Amanda Wright and Ellen Mary Brick
Meridiah M. (b. Feb. 03, 1859, NY) m. Henry Vantyne

Is it possible that our Knipes are related at an earlier point in Ireland? I thought I knew all the Knipes in the Seattle, WA and Portland, OR areas, but just recently I found another cousin, Roland Knipe descended from George Knipe, south of Seattle. It was very interesting to read your enquiry, and I will continue to look for our Canadian and Irish connection.

Thank you
Bruce Knipe
