Knisley Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Bill, I can refer you to message #284 at this forum, to my cousin Maxine. She has helped me with my line, and has the best info; perhaps can help with documentation, or maybe knows who has it. Most of the Knisley/Nicelys are connected and descended from Nussili, as far as I can tell. Also, my allied family lines have traveled and intermarried for hundreds of years in the US, and there are bound to be many marriages between your name and Knisley as well. After looking a bit more thru info I just got from Maxine, there are about four Coffman/Kauffman marriages, including Elizabeth w/o Andrew/Andrus, on more than one tree. Perhaps Maxine can help. But be patient, as she can't spend much time at this.
My line is: Grandfather- Joseph Benjamin Brown; s/o James (William?)Brown, and Harriett (Hattie)Cooley; d/o Isaiah Cooley and Elizabeth Ann Knisley; d/o Samuel Knisley/Nicely, b. 1824 and Anna Graham b. 1847; s/o John Anthony Knisley b. 1795 in US, and Elizabeth Pfeiffer, b. abt.1821.
In identifying my family, I traced back through my cousins surnames to Canada, plus, I have a 99 year old Great Aunt with pictures, who said they were Mennonites; which, combined with the identified photos I inherited, census, and cemetaries, I was able to locate many cousins in the last year and help them with their lines. My surname Brown is connected to at least 100 surnames in the Detroit/Ontario area; add in another 100 surnames in Michigan from my Grandmother, Helen Irene Cline, who is descended from The Rockwells of NY and Ct.
The LDS files are great for clues, but are only as good as the info put in to the system. One of our cousins in the Canada family, has a Bible which fortunately has my ancestors. Good luck, Kathy
