My gggrandfather was Joseph Knisely of Greene Co. PA.He married a Rachel Shriver.They had 9 children. Joseph also married a Hannah Unknown and had at least one additional child.Joseph's father was John Kneisley.I obtained the following information about John.I have not rechecked the information.I hope this is helpful to you. Birth year of John Nisely determined from 1790 Shenandoah Co., VA tax list where John Nisely Sr. & John Nisely , Jr. are listed.This was first appearance of John Nisely, Jr. on tax list indicating he had reached age 21.

1792 John Nisely appears of Washington Co., PA Tax List-later on Greene Co., PA
1793 thru 1796, a John Knisely listed on Tax record of Shenandoah Co., VA beside Geroge Knisely living on the Powell Ft. property of John Knisley, Sr.

Oct 2, 1829 Greene Co., PA, John Knisel Bondsman for John Yeater Estate #638, Bk. 1, p 363 & 365 and signed by Johannes Knisel in German Script.
1834 Letter of Administration issued by John Nicely Feb 10, 1834 for estate of Jeremiah Glasco, Esq.-Estate 638.
This adm. later relinquished to a son, Joseph Nicely.
April 21/22, 1845 death date for John Nicely from Widow's Pension Application, War of 1812, #10641, National Archives, Washington D.C. 1873 thru 1880.14 Jan. 1814-Marriage Date of John Nicely & Elizabeth Yeater from Widow's Pension Application.No will or estate papers on John K. in Greene Co., PA.
No land record found but tax records in 1792 -John Nicely is listed and a line is drawn through his name.This indicates that he was in Greene Co., PA but had left the county and the name is crossed off.
Per Johnny Knisely of Charleston, WV (as provided by Barbara Barton Oct 11, 2002:
Johnannes Kneisl aka John Knisely, was a shoemaker by trade.He apparantly performed some service during the Revolution, as he is listed as receiving a 20. annual pension as a veteran in Greene Co., from 1839 to 1843.
