Swedish KNOBEL Family
Posted by: Robert van Haastert Date: September 07, 2000 at 15:45:57

Looking for anyone with a connection to a Christian KNOBEL, family lore has him coming from Sweden, possibly marrying and having a family in Amsterdam. He is the father of Anthonij Knuppel (spelling change in 1803) who married in 1835. My guess is that Anthonij was born around 1810-1815, and his father, Christian, was born 20-25 years before his son (1790's). Guess only.

Christian KNOBEL/KNUPPEL was the captain of the 60 ton schooner Jonge Nicolaas, which sailed the Dutch East Indies.

My interest in this man is through my grandmother, Caroline Eveline KNUPPEL. The KNUPPEL family lived in Rembang, Java for over 150 years and I would like to get this family back into Europe for further genealogical research.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Robert van Haastert
