Hi Judith,

I'm also looking for info on my Knobel (Knoble) ancestors; my g-grandmother, Magdalena (Lena) Knoble (1846-1934), died in Lake Co., IN, married Christian Miller, who was probably from Germany. I regret that I don't have anything to help you specifically, but I want to augment the database on this name in case anything comes up that may help many. The name apparently means the same as the English word, "knoll," so it could appear in several German-speaking localities. I know that it's fairly frequent in a couple of Swiss cantons, and appears in Bavaria, and it may well appear elsewhere. If I find anything more relevant to you I will share it.

Good hunting,

Allen Meyer
