Iverson Knott was bornca. 1818 in NCHe married 9 Oct 1842 in Williamson Co., TN, to Jane E. Goodrum Owen.Jane was married first to a Stirling Owens who shot her.You can find that on the Goodrum Forum.Jane divorced Stirling.
Iverson's mother was Sarah Smith and his father was Joseph Knott.Their children were: Iverson, Johnston, James Alan, and John Alexander, all born in Granville, NC.
The father of Joseph was James Knott who married Rebecca Hart Dec. 30, 1799.Joseph was born in 1800, his father died that year and his will was probated in Jan, 1800.In the will James mentions Joseph and Rebecca and appointed Rebecca's father, Joseph Hart, as guardian for his son.In 1803 Rebecca married Thomas Crenshaw and moved to TN, leaving James with his grandfather, Joseph Hart. There are records in the TN Court books where Joseph Hart filled a report each year about being Joseph's gardian.
From Barbara Knott Horsman's book, READING BACKWARDS ON MY KNOTT HERITAGE, the ancestry then goes Iverson> Joseph> James> James> James.Type James Knott into the search ine on Google and find out about why the first James left England and the Nansemond Plantation. My e-mail is
Edith Knott
