I'm looking for information on members of the Knott family that came to St Mary's County Maryland from Virginia around 1820:
James H Knott
Frank Knott
Mary A (Cooke) Knott
The furthest I can track is to a James H Knott from St Mary's County Maryland, born approximately 1821. He married a MaryA Cooke (father George Cooke) in 1845 and had 8 children: George (my relation), James, William, Cecelia, Augusta, Cora, Fannie, and Linnie.
I have an letter which states James and his father Frank were tobacco farmers. Frank moved to St Mary's County from Virginia when James was a baby. It says Frank lived to be 104 years old but there is no reference to his birth or death year or locations. Also no wife or family member names.
There is little else that I have to go on except there's a reference to relations with the Blackstone family.
Does anyone have possible connections or sources I can research about this family around this timeframe?
