Elizabeth-- My interest in the family of John and Lois (Bemis) Knowlton is from the Bemis side. I have never been able to locate the family of John and Lois in any Census in Sandy Creek, Oswego County, (1820, 1830 etc.) but your "clue" of Cicero, Onondaga County finds the following adjacent Knowlton families in the 1830 Cicero enumeration-- John Knowlton, males:2 5-10,1 15-20,1 20-30, 1 30-40 females:2 <5, 1 20-30 Jeremiah Knowlton, males: 1 5-10, 1 15-20, 1 30-40 females: 1 <5, 1 30-40 This appears to match brothers John (b. Sept. 30, 1795) and Jeremy (b. March 15, 1798) but at the time of the 1830 Census, Lois would have been age 38-39 (b. April 12, 1791). I do find a James Upton in Sandy Creek in the 1830 Census. James Upton, males: 1 <5, 1 20-30 females: 1 30-40, 1 70-80 Could this Upton family be James and Eunice (Knowlton) Upton who were reported to have emmigrated to Sandy Creek along with her brother John and wife Lois ?? I would like to learn more about any descendants of John and Lois as you "hinted" in your message. The ancestry of Lois Bemis is well established and documented.
