Hi. I am originally from Upton, Mass where the Knowlton Family were the owners of a large hat shop in the late 1800's-mid 1900's. I was recently visiting the Antietam National Cemetery where I noticed a C.C Knowlton from Mass who died fighting in the Battle of Antietam, MD in Sept. 1862. I was wondering if he was from the same Knowlton family of Upton, Mass. Does anyone have information about this individual? I am a civil war reenactor and I am interested in those from my home town who served and died fighting in the war between the states. I know my home town has a statute in the town common wherein is listed at the bottom all her sons who died fighting in this war. I do not know if CC Knowlton is listed though. Thanks for any response.
