I am looking for a Mrs.K. Knutson or her family in order to help me find my family. I was given this name on a sheet of paper with my family names which I will post here.If you are Mrs. K. Knutson or a member of her family would you PLEASE contact me?
RACHEL THORSON KNUTSON raised my grandfather and his sister after they were orphaned. Please read on......
Here is a bit of my story, please check the names below:
My great grandparents were SOREN THORSON who later changes his last name to MOLAND. He sometimes went by "Sam", he died at the age of 42 yrs,March 15,1889, came over to this country from Norway and lived and died in Illinois. He married Olena Vega or Viga. They had three children, Klaus Thomas, Celia, and my grandfather,Ole. Olena died when my grandfather was 1 month old. By the little bit of history I was given, his dad died when he was 11 years old.
I would just like to know what Soren died of and where he is buried for sure. I have been to the place where he is SUPPOSEDLY buried and where there are supposed to be church records but no one ever checked the records for me, even after I gave a generous donation for doing so.
It is said that my grandfather and his sister Celia were raised by RACHEL THORSON KNUTSON and her husband RASMUS KNUTSON who lived and died and are buried near Lee, Illinois.
Soren Thorson was the son of Tore and Sisilia. Sorens brothers and sister were:
Lars Thoreson/Thorson, stayed in Norway as far as I know
Rachel Thorson Knutson, lived in Illinois
Bertel Thorson ( also used the spelling Thorsen)
Sjur Toreson, stayed in Norway as far as I know and perhaps died young
On this note I have given to me by a relative it says,"Mrs. K. Knutson has pictures."
Pictures would be almost too much for me to dream about after searching for 7 years and not finding alot but if you could just tell me HOW my great grandfather, Soren, died and where he is buried, it would mean alot to me.
I do have a few more dates, locations etc. but I figure if you are Mrs. K. Knutson or her family, you will know who I am speaking of.
On a very personal note ( and I don't usually do this) BUT I was 7 1/2 years old when my grandfather passed but 7 years ago at his grave I promised him I would find his story, his parents, etc. and that they would live on. That is my intention.
Thank you so much.
