I am trying to connect the families of Hermann Koehl, pilot of the Bremen which crossed the Atlantic from east to west in 1928, Elizabeth Koehl Blum, who claimed to be his aunt and lived in Peoria, IL, (she had a son, Charles Blum and two daughters, one married a George Wing and the other a Mr. Lowe)and my greatgrandfather, Frederick G. Koehl, supposed to have been born in Saarbruken, Germany on 6 Jul 1853, the son of Christian Koehl. (Frederick's children were Mary Barbara, Octave Frederick, Christian Charles, Ida Amelia, Frederick Peter, Louisa Laura, Anna Victorin, Emile Magnus, and Henry Joseph all born in New Orleans, LA.) I have newspaper clippings and photos of these people together, but no personal information on them or how they are all connected exactly. One article in the Peoria Sunday Journal Transcript from May 1928 has a picture of yet another family member who was supposed to be Hermann Koehl's uncle. It says "August Joseph Koehl, New York music teacher, has a dinner date with Capt. Hermann Koehl made several weeks ago".
Does anybody have any tidbit of information which might help me make a concrete connection between these individuals? Thanks for ANY little bit of help.
