Other siblings included Philipp Friedrich Koehler (born 26 Jul 1870), Christoph Friedrick Koehler (born 15 Nov 1867), and Christine Koehler (born 15 Jul 1864). There parents were Christian Wilhelm Koehler (born abt. 1837) and B. Arnold (died abt. 1875). C.W. Koehler took his family and his new wife (Dorothea) and her previous marrige son (Johann George born 17 Oct 1866) and their two new children, Hermann Koehler (born 20 Sep 1877) and Rudolph Koehler (born 02 Oct 1879) to America in 1880. Emigrated from Marschalkenzimmern, a village in Sulz County, in the province of Wuerttemberg, Germany. Sailed on the S.S. Silesia, departing from Hamburg, Germany and Havre, Frace in February of 1880 and ported into New York, New York (Crystal Gardens Emigration Center) on March 8, 1880.
On board were Father Christian Wilhelm, Mother (Step) Dorothea, and 9 children; Friedrich August, Christine, Anna Barbara, Johann George (Dorothea's son from her previous marriage), Christoph Friedrich, Philipp Friedrich (Heinrich ?), Christian Wilhelm (Paul Christian's Father), Hermann and Rudolph.
References are the Germans to America and Wuerttemberg Emigration Index books.
Sometime after the family came to the US, or at the Emigration Center (Crystal Gardens), the last name was changed to Kahler, and first and middle names were Americanized (i.e. Wilhelm changed to William, etc...). After arriving in America, Christian and Dorathea had another child Dora who later married a man named Fenner.
My great grand father, Christian William Kahler, settled in Muskegon, Michigan and married Agnus Hope Stalker.
