I have a copy of this obituary for Jacob Masten who died 5 June 1905:

Jacob Masten, born in Dundae township 77 years ago, and a life long resident of Monroe county, died at his home near Azalia Monday afternoon, of congestion of the liver and the infirmities of old age. Deceased was one of the best and most favorably known citizens of this community, and his unlooked for demise casts a shadow of gloom o'er old and young alike. He was always a jolly, good soul and was liked by all who knew him. He has always been a farmer and his home for more than fifty years was the one from which he died. Besides an aged widow, he leaves five daughters, Mesdames Jeff Pilbeam, Alonzo Hitchcock, Wm. Reeves, Martie KOPKE and Edith Williams; two sons, Abram and Frank Masten; several grand children and a wide circle of relatives and admiring friends to mourn his death. Funeral was held from the late residence Wednesday at 2 o'clock p. m. and was one of the largest ever held in that community. Burial at Azalia.
