Do you know what part of the US he settled in? I have a Karl or Carl Koepke who lived in Elyria Ohio (or Lorain County, anyway.) His birthdate was 1848 supposedly, although I don't have the documentation; he died in 1902.

Let me know if any of this seems to fit your Koepkes.
