Please see the reply to the above message also. There are lots of Koepke women on that list of Illinois marriages. I looked thru all your messages but can't find anything helpful to me. But I couldn't help but notice your spirited exchange and the date 1871 is about the time my ancestors came, too (Christian Spenler from Wurtemburg) So I wanted to share this marriage list since there were so many Koepkes on it. You just never know where that piece of useful information may come from! So there was a war in 1871 that caused them to leave?
