Looking for information on Joseph Koger Sr. b.1765, Henry Co. VA Married Mary Ann Hamby Tinsly abt. 1790 Henry Co. VA.
Joseph was the sheriff in Lee County Va for several terms. As one story goes:Joe was supposed to have hired a Polly SLAGLE to do house work,Polly gave birth to a son on 15 Jan. 1825 that she named Francis (France) Slagle while in Joseph Koger's employment. After the death of Joseph June 30, 1852 in Deklab Co.Tn. France was taken away from his mother and bound to Abraham Zion Sr. In the 1830 census of Lee Co. there is in the home of Joseph Koger an unaccounted for female 15-20 yrs of age and a male under 5 years old. Polly left Lee Co. VA in 1837 and was in the 1840 cencus of Wayne Co. KY. Another story is that France and two or three of his older sisters were left while their mother (Polly Slagle) went to get the cows, she never returned, France was taken in by Joseph Koger until in his older years, then France was bound to Abaham Zion.
I am trying to find the parents of Francis (France) Slagle my g-grandfather.
