At his home in Leon at 2:15 o'clock p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, occurred the death of Jordan Koger who for thirty-five years had been identified with the interests of Decatur County. Deceased was born February 15, 1820, in Clinton County, Kentucky, where he remained until 21 years of age when he emigrated to Davis County, Missouri. On September 17, 1843 he was married to Elizabeth Smith who died March 12, 1885. To this union were born sixteen children, some of whom now reside in this vicinity. Mr. Koger settled in 1843 in Gentry County where he acquired a landed estate of 748 acres in Decatur Township. On November 29, 1886, he was united in marriage at Albany, Missouri, with Mrs. Sarah J. Branham, who survives him.
Mr. Koger was a kind, conscientious citizen and a faithful member of the M.E. Church South. The funeral was conducted at the Leon M.E. Church last Thursday afternoon by Reverend Stinson of Eaglesvlle, Missouri, and the remains interred in the Leon Cemetery under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge of which deceased had been a member for nearly thirty-five years.

Will of Jordan Koger
The last will and testament of Jordan Koger, deceased, has been filed with Clerk Stockton. The instrument was executed on the 18th day of January, 1895, and is signed by H.J. Landes, V.R. McGinnis and E.W. Curry as witnesses. Mrs. Sarah J. Koger, his wife, is bequeathed the homestead in Leon, all personal property therein and $500 in cash besides an allowance for her support not to exceed $200.
From the remainder of the estate after the payment of all just debts, including burial expenses and the purchase of a momument, Mrs. Susan M. Tharp and Mrs. Elmina C. Smith are to be paid $1,000 each, theses amounts being their just due to make them equal to the advancements already made to other heirs.
After foregoing bequests are fully satisfied, it is directed that the remainder of the estate shall be devided share and share alike between the children and the children's heirs, amounting in all to ten shares.
William L. Ragan is named as executor with bond not to exceed $10,000. Mrs. Elmina C. Smith, one of the heirs, petitions the court to appoint the said William L. Ragan special adminstrator with bond in the sum of $10,000.
