Aloha Deborah,
Thank you for your most gracious complements. I have tried to make this site as interesting as possible because I think "Sketches in the life and times of Jesse Corn", which is also found there, conveys an important message for us all today.
As I see it, the picture projected from these biographical sketches is that of a typical Virginia family living through the revolutionary period. Jesse's dedication and commitment to family, country, and god, and his enterprising spirit would not be seen as unusual in his times, as it now seems when we read it today. Although not a notable personage, I think that Jesse is representative of the majority of our revolutionary forefathers which have facilitated our way of life today.
Our freedoms, which all too many now take for granted (or worse), came from the efforts and sacrifices of individuals of that time frame whose aim were to make things better for their children, and their descendants. While they succeeded beyond their wildest imagination, I wonder how they judge our treatment of their legacy? My hope is that, as we reflect on these sketches of Jesse's life, the traits we see in our ancestors will be rekindled within us.
Regarding your questions about how the web pages were produced, a variety of techniques have been employed. Family Tree Maker (FTM) has been used to maintain the actual genealogy. However, this software can not be recommended to others because of the manufacturer's lack of support in dealing with software deficiences. The web pages that contain genealogy were initially produced with FTM, then exported to MS Word, then output from Word in web format, and finally "hand tuned". The other web pages were either totally hand coded, or produced directly using Word.
Deborah, I have also read a number of the posts that you have placed on these forums. Let me thank you very much for all your effort in making that wealth of information available.
Thank you again, and Mahalo,
-Tom
