From History of Henry Co:
From 1725 to 1775 there came to Pennsylvania alone from Germany 30,000 ....Four brothers founded Koger family in America: Jacob by way of Philadelphia in 1728; Nicholas to the same city in 1732; Joseph by way of Charleston, SC in 1734; Peter to Philadelphia in 1738.a younger brother came with Jacob but lost his life by climbing a pear tree, catching his clothing on a limb in such a way, he died.
Jacob married Lucinda Crum(b): children were Michael, Henry, Peter,Nicholas, Joseph & Mary. Mary married a Dr. Stone and no more is known; Jacob moved from Pennsylvania to Augusta Co, VA (he later gave 455 acres to son Michael on the Shenandoah River. (I am excerpting, rather than write word for word) In 1762 he was 20 miles west of Martinsville VA. His son Jacob was in Revolutionary Army.
In 1782, after 54 years in America, he gave son Henry land on both sides of Stone Creek. He died June 13, 1783.
Son Henry Koger, born 1742, married twice, no children by 1st wife; second wife Mary King (sister of John King, a revolutionary soldier) occurred about 1780 or 1790. Childrn: John, Catherine, Betsy, Pollie, Sallie, Joseph, Henry, Abraham, Jacob and Billy.Jacob married a Philpott;Billy an Anglin; Betsy a Slaughter; Sallie a Philpott and all went West.
John Koger, son of Henry and Mary King, married Gillie C. Napier; (children: Susan, Woodson, Bettie, Moses Marion, John, Jr; Kittie, Emily, Gillie, Lute, Hill, Victoria and George. (Skipping to Henry Jr.)
Henry Jr. born 1790, married Lucinda Thomas. He died in 1868. Children: Thomas married a Webb; Middleton married Margaret Mills (he served in Civil War); Mary married William Corn; Perry married Emily Burgess; Lucinda born 1832; Lee and Edd died in Civil War; Susan married a Shelton; Caroline died unmarried; Emily married John Ziegler; Pink married Emma Ford.
Mary Koger, daughter of Henry and Mary, married Alexander Hunter Bassett: Children Martha A; Woodson, John Harden, Eliza and Mary Catherine.
Katie Koger (Catherine) married James Baker; children: Ruth married J.P.H. Taylor; Lucinda married thomas Lodowick Craighead; Polly married Mr. Via; and James.
