Kogut Family from Poland/Ukraine
Posted by: Kathy Agnew (ID *****8575) Date: August 01, 2003 at 15:58:13

My maternal grandparents were Maria Kogut & Franc Dolar. Grandmother's passport when emmigrating to Canada stated she was from Szwykowie but I can't find any historical records of a place by this name. She pronounced it "Schwekew". They spoke Ukrainian but "belonged" to Poland. Kogut name seems very common but Dolar quite the opposite. Kogut relatives in Canada corresponded with family Koguts in Piaskowa, Poland in the 1940's. Maria had only one sister who stayed in Poland, and Franc only one brother. Desperately seeking some family info.
