"Are there any Koguts with roots from Ukraine?"
My grandfather's original name was Theodore Kogut, and he came from Marianovka in what I believe is present-day Ukraine (it was in Poland for much of the time he was there, about 1910-1926, he described it as "one day Poland, the next Russia, then Poland again, etc.). His parents, brothers Sam and Fred, and sister Sussil, settled in Washington, DC, where I am located today. (They changed there name to Kogod at that time). His other brother, Alberto, settled in Rio and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are still there.
I have tried to find Marianovka over the years but with little success.
