The name of "Kok" was carried over from Germany by my ancestors who were forced to change the spelling upon entry to the states to "Kook." My great-grandmother's name was Lois Kook, and my grandmother's name was Griselda Jean Kook-Schubert. I will try to research the story a bit more and post any new findings.
