I recently discovered the 1900 Census for my gr grandparents, Stephen & Mary Kolesar. I did not find this record previously because it was spelled "Colessar". At the time, they were living in Lower Tyrone Township, Fayette Co., PA. They must have been living in a coal patch town because I discoverd 20 additional Kolesars (Colessars) living with and next to each other. I'm not sure if Colessar was the origin name and evolved. My guess is it was spelled they way it pronounced. Stephen Kolesar b. 1866 i. 1885, m. Mary b. 1971 i. 1886, daughter Anna b. 1891 OHIO. So it possible the family originally settled in OHIO. daughter Katie b. 1895 PA, John b. 1898 PA (my grandfather). Benjamin Kolesar b. 1872 i. 1890, m. Anna b. 1872 i. 1895, son Joseph b. 1897, son Matthias b. 1898, daughter Ella b. 1899 George Kolesar b. 1869 i. 1895, m. Katie b. 1875 i. 1898, daughter Mary b. 1894, son Michael b. 1895, son George b. 1900. Michael Kolesar b. 1871 i. 1891, m. Anna b. 1874 i. 1897, son Michael b. 1899 Stephen Kolesar b 1871 i. 1890, m. Anna b. 1871, daughter Mary b. 1893 , son Joseph b. 1895, daughter Ann b. 1897, daughter Ella b. 1898, daughter Katie b. 1899. Does anyone have any information on any of these families. I still do not have the origin of my gr grandparents. It would appear with all of these Kolesars living next to each other, they were related somehow. All of these children were born in PA, except Anna b. 1891 OHIO of Stephen & Mary Kolesar and Mary b. 1894 Hungary of George & Katie Kolesar. My gr grandparents, Stephen & Mary Kolesar later moved to Rainytown, PA then Wilpen, PA. They would have been Gk Cat. at this time. My grandparents, Mary & John Kolesar were Gk Orthodox.
