I had a great grandfather (my mother's mother's father) named Christian Kolling. He died in 1960, and I remember being told that he was 80 years old when he died. That would mean that he was born somewhere around 1880 (+/- a year, maybe).
I also know that he was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States, probably in the first decade of the 1900s. The recording of names & births in the Bible probably stopped with the disruption brought on by the family's departure from their German homeland.
I remember my great grandfather as a very pious and holy man. He died while opening the heavy door to the church where he was entering to worship. It was Mother's Day.
It would be amazing to see "Grandpap" Kolling's family Bible! I would say that there is at least a possibility that this Bible belonged to him, or perhaps to an elder member of the family.
Thanks for your post.
