Thank you! I believe you're right about the connection to Heather's family and have given us some valuable clues. The 1920 census shows that your Lewis Kolts was born in 1863 in Michigan, his father was born in Germany, and his mother was born in Nova Scotia, Canada. This fits exactly with the Lewis Kolts born in 1863 in Burnside Twp, Lapeer County, Michigan to Matthew J. Kolts and his wife Nancy Jane Beals.
Also, your Lewis has a son Robert and daughter Florence--apparently Heather's grandfather and grandaunt.
By the way, I checked into Rosannah Courser's birth--the statewide birth indexes for Vermont agree that she was born in Jay Township, Orleans County on 18 Oct 1870. Her parents are Ephraim and Martha Courser.
