Your post says you are looking for a Komer. Several people in my mother's family used that shortened name. But the family name was Komerofsky. My Komerofsky grandfather was from Romania, actually Moldavia, but the family was originally from Odessa, Ukraine. He lived in Cleveland, Ohio, which is in Cuyahoga County.

The name, however, may not be the family's historical name. The story is told that to leave the Ukraine, the family, which is Jewish, had to buy identity papers and that Komerofsky may be the name on the papers.

I have been able to find some birth and marriage records in the town of Braila in Romania.

Any help?
