I don't know if this is your Michael, but in Records of Jones Co. NC Deed Book 16 & 17 (1823 to 1827), Zena Koonce gave a horse to Michael Koonce, so of William Koonce. William is son of George, son of John Koonce Sr., son of George, son of Johann Cunitz or Cunys (John Koonce) and Alicia, who came from Germany in 1710 and settled what became Jones Co.
