Thomas & Ruth Copeland & children emigrated from Pennsylvania to what is now Mississauga,Ontario,Canada where in 1808 they purchased their farm from Philip Cody (grandfather of Buffalo Bill). Family researchers believe this to be the Thomas Copeland who on the 1800 Pennsylvania Census is in Lack, Mifflin Co. On the 1881 Ontario Census Mary Copeland, my gg grandmother, daughter of Thomasís son Robert, gives her nationality as German as do several other descendants of Thomas.
Maryís mother was Elizabeth Gray of Scottish origin so the German must refer to her Copeland line. I therefore believe Thomas to be a descendant of the German Koplin family. Has anyone researching the Koplins of Mifflin Co. found any reference to a Thomas?
