I have further information. The 101st Airborne Division (of which the 502d was a part) was de-activated following WW II and was activated again near the beginning of the Korean War for the purpose of conducting basic training for inductees so your dad probably took his basic training there (about 14 weeks). It was an Airborne Division in name only at that time.
Following basic training he would have gone to Fort Bliss, TX (at El Paso)for his advanced training in Anti Aircraft (about another 14 weeks) before shipping overseas. Fort Bliss is THE AA training center.
