Hi, Kathy

Good for your dad!! How awful to be treated that way. (Sounds like my "stepbrother" who retired from the Marines last year in July.) Had an attitude about this. I hope that your dad has found a job by now. I am sorry to hear that he was laid off in his 50's.

My dad was a Korean War Vet. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor in the US Navy. He passed away last year in August. I really miss him. He joined the navy with his best friend. They grew up together and remained friends for many years until he passed away.

Dad's birthday is on Sept 27 but for years my family celebrated it on the 26. A few years ago, he decided to celebrate it on the 27th. That is when I found out that his real birthday was on the 27th and that he wanted to join the navy, so he told them his birthday was the 26. Because he was one day to late regarding age. His best friend was sent to Korea and he came back. But had a very difficult time dealing with what happened there.

You are right that recognition have never been given to those who served in the Korean War.

Terrie
