I don't think you are going to find any written information on why he received the Bronze Star. I think they only gave out a certificate with the medal. At least that happened in my brothers case. If your relative was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge that would be one reason why he was awarded the Bronze Star. For all the heavy action he was in. Hope this helps.
