"The 1711 uprising of the Tuscarora Indians took the Kornegay family by surprise and they were wiped out except for George Kornegay, who was about nine years of age at that time. Young George Koonce, also about nine years old, was the sole survivor of the Koonce/Cunys family. The court at New Bern bound them out to Jacob Mueller (later changed to Miller), a Swiss schoolmaster and Justice of the Peace, at New Bern, who raised them."
I can document my line back to this George Koonce. Only speculation gives information on the parents. If anyone would like to give a sincere effort to researching these two Georges, please email me at email@example.com.
