I am a Kornegay from NC. The family pronounces is Kor NE gie or Ker NE gie, however, many people pronounce it KOR ne gay (but most of those are not Kornegays) because it is easier. My grandparents and ancestors came from the Duplin and Lenoir county area in NC. That is Kornegay territory.
