J G Mann,formerly a brakeman on the Santa Fe coast lines running out of
Winslow was brought to Albuquerque at midnight last night from
Amarillo,Texas where he was arrested Friday night on a charge of forging and
uttering a Santa Fe railroad pass.. It is alleged that Mann issued a
pass permitting S L Williams to ride over the Santa Fe from Albuquerque to
Amarillo,signing the name of C W Kouns as general manager. Mann came
back without extradition. He was turned over to Deputy Sheriff Dick
Lewis upon his arrival here and taken to the county jail. Witnesses have
been subpoenaed to be at the preliminary hearing which will be held in
the police court at 2;20 this afternoon. The penalty that may be
imposed upon persons convicted of forging a railroad pass is from one to five
years in the penitentiary.
